The Rainforest Alliance (RA) is an international nonprofit organization
dedicated to protecting ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend
on them by implementing better business practices for biodiversity
conservation and sustainability located in New York . The Sustainable
Forestry Division of the Rainforest Alliance has two programs: TREES and
SmartWood. TREES focuses on (T)raining, (R)esearch, (E)xtension, (E)ducation
and (S)ystems activities related to sustainable forest management and
certification. SmartSource and relevant market linkage is a new service that
the TREES program is offering companies to assist them in understanding and
improving their forest product sources worldwide. SmartWood program is the
leading FSC accreditated certification body which provide FSC FM and CoC
certification, verification of legal origin and SmartStep services
worldwide.
